Should I even wait on buying the ram? Buying another 512 stick is ~$70. But I would be getting pc2100 which I probably wouldnt want to move into a new machine if I upgrade the board.

well you can always buy faster ram for about the same price.
I have a stick of 1GB DDR400 and I've been shopping for another stick to run dual channel... thems are some expensive mofos!
Honestly, I would just wait longer.
