Plastic encased LED's?

OK so I figure that you guys would know this. I was wondering if there is some sort of plastic resin or epoxy to encase LED's such that when you light up the LED, the whole resin piece lights up with it.

you can create such a piece, just remember the light needs to refract off of something so if its plain clear plastic, you will need to make etches in it.

What specific application are you using it for?

Take a dremel and make little cuts into a solid plastic tube, between 1/3 and 1/2 of the way down. The light will refract off those, and illuminate the tube, but it wont be one solid color, there will be a bunch of bright spots.

It's indicator lighting for a school project, but it needs to be about the brightness of a turn signal.

This should help, if you do use it commercially please give us some credit. It has the requirements and specs to make a full blown encased LED light system. Thanks.

The part you will find useful is pages 118-119.
