I took it and passed it in the top 98%, it's *very* easy. The hardest part was Math, and that's because I'm terrible at it.

I also took the CHSPE (GED for when you're still in school - for those who don't want to finish school the normal way and know the material) and that was more difficult, but still easy.

In California it's illegal to discriminate between either HS Diploma, CHSPE or GED. They are all considered equal and fair.

Diploma > Good Enough Degree

Most decent employers see that you haven't even graduated high school and are wary to even give you a chance.

That only prevents companies from establishing a policy of not hiring those with GEDs. It won't help you any for any job where you're actually submitting a resume instead of handing in an application.

No, for instance, the Applications read "Have you completed Highschool or a GED?"

You check mark yes or no. It doens't ask you to specify which. I'm sure some employers do, but by law they aren't allowed to specify or require you to specify; they can dig it up in a check if they wish with transcripts, but not on initial applications.

In any case, you are right. A Diploma is better, but if you have a good reason why you didn't graduate then it's not of importance. If you were a terrible kid and got in tons of trouble and didn't graduate because you were too busy going to jail or doing drugs; you might have a problem.

CiviChik is right, if you can suck it up and finish it out and get a Diploma, go for it. You'll be happier, if nothing else.

:werd: you'll feel a hell of a lot prouder knowing that you did it. Don't give up. i BARELY made it through, and almost dropped out my Junior year...but i knew i'd regret that more than anything...and now, graduating HS is the biggest accomplishment of my life.

You can't submit a resume that says "Diploma and/or GED from High School and/or self study"
