85 Crx..
My friend is about to buy a 85 CRX from this chick at our work. We went and seen the car today, body is in decent condition, needs front drivers fender and front grill. The car has been sitting for like 2 years, and they say it only needs a battery and spark plugs/wires. $250 so i think it's worth it. My questions is what motor does this thing have? I know it's D15, A2, A3? Is it carbed or fi?
Thanx.
Thanx.
I believe this thing would be carbed, what model crx is it? I hate the first gen crx's. They're so ugly, however the suspension handling makes up for the ugliness of the car. I personally wouldn't waste a dime on the car and save up and get a 88-91 crx. They've been going for extremely cheap lately. You'd better check the oil by looking at the dipstick and making sure there is no water in the oil. Just make sure there is no oil leaking around the head or anything as well. I think the motor would be a d15b series if it's an hf or something. good luck wit it.
pretty hard I believe.. er, at least not worth it.. it'd be easier to just hold out for an FI Si.. Im pretty sure you have to swap out all the fuel lines if its carb'd if you were wanted to convert it to a FI motor..
if its an hf then its a 1.3 liter and has like 50 hp, so he might have a problem with that. if its a dx then its a 1.5 with about 75 hp. swapping in an FI motor is a pain but it can be done. other options are putting hot carbs on it, going ITB, or getting a carbed ZC as those go pretty cheap and theyll deliver like 115 hp. if all he needs is a daily driver, tell him to get it. thats cheap as hell and itll get great mileage. an hf will get like 50 mpg in the city
btw i drive an '85 Si and i love it
