U.S. Reportedly Kills [another] 40 Iraqis at Party
BAGHDAD, Iraq (AP) - A U.S. helicopter fired on a wedding party early Wednesday in western Iraq, killing more than 40 people, Iraqi officials said. The U.S. military said it could not confirm the report and was investigating.
Lt. Col Ziyad al-Jbouri, deputy police chief of the city of Ramadi, said between 42 and 45 people died in the attack, which took place about 2:45 a.m. in a remote desert area near the border with Syria and Jordan. He said those killed included 15 children and 10 women.
Dr. Salah al-Ani, who works at a hospital in Ramadi, put the death toll at 45.
Associated Press Television News obtained videotape showing a truck containing bodies of those allegedly killed. Most of the bodies were wrapped in blankets and other cloths, but the footage showed at least eight uncovered, bloody bodies, several of them children. One child was headless.

I don't know about the rest of you, but I really feel that we [the us military/bush] are doing more harm than good! Death tolls continue to increase, US citizens are getting "beheaded," Iraqi's are getting beaten, raped, and tortured...I mean, it seems like we are accomplishing nothing but more death and torture...This conflict really needs to be resolved in different matters...I dont know how or what, but whatever we are doing now is clearly not working...Don't get me wrong, I respect the men and women in our military risking their lives out there everyday, but damn...Do we continue to put them in harms way? Do we continue the pointless killing? :wtf:

Apparently it happened (if it happened) because celebratory gunfire was mistaken for hostile fire.

If you only knew the half of it. I know a guy who's son just got back from Iraq... he said that what we see on the news about what happens over there is like describing a carnival with only showing a red ballon.
He said it's about 20 times worse than what's being shown on the news. And from what he's told from other soldiers... Desert Storm was the same way. Nam was the same. WWII was the same. Even peace keeping missions to Somolia are the same way.
War is hell. Change the channel and let them do their job.

But that's another thread so I won't go any further than that.

what do you expect? reports of barbecues and volleyball games?
i can't imagine what kind of outrage there would be if we had this kind of coverage in vietnam, ww2, etc..
