VTEC in the J series engines is quite pronounced with the resonator removed or an intake installed. I love giving it half throttle in second then feeling the rush of power when the VTEC cam hits. It's not so much the HP boost, but the torque boost...the acceleration feels much more solid in the VTEC profile in my Accord and the two CL-S' I've driven. Of course it's not nearly as beneficial as DOHC VTEC, but IMO it deserves more credit than people give it.

Nonetheless, there's a certain aural bliss in winding the motor all the way out....be it a B, C, D, F, J, K or H-series. h:
