I saw a bumper sticker that would go great with that article. It read....

"Equal rights are NOT special rights"

Referring to all the special rights certain groups are given due to their mistreatment in the past. I loved it. Gave the owner of the vehicle a big thumbs up.

That article irked me. The first thing that got me was

The Republicans as a whole support choice in all matters that do not relate to human life. The Democrats seemingly oppose choice except when the life of a human being is involved.
The Republican party hasn't been about personal choice for years... Abortion, Gay marriage, war on drugs, indoctrination of Christianity into government... decisions which show a bias of no-choice from the right. Heck, to receive federal teen health funding, states must follow the federal guidelines of only teaching abstinence and not to mention safe sex at all. Again, not really reinforcing personal choice.

Republicans are all for choice as long as they agree with your choices.

We're not gonna take being called anti-woman because we don't think that women unlike all other Americans have the right to kill becuse they made a mistake.
Of all the females I personally know, there has only been two reasons why they or their friends gotten abortions: All prior forms of birth control failed, or they were taken advantage of/raped. Those aren't "mistakes", they're life-changing events that someone should have the right to correct.

We're not gonna take being called anti-civil rights because we happen to think that all American be treated equally no matter their race, gender, or sexual preference.
Bullshit. Then give gay people the right to marry.

The Republican party has long since been coopted by the evangelical Christian right wing and no longer serves its core values. Hell, it's not even supposed to be a right wing party. We can talk all we want about supposed party ideals which are totally antiquated (I mean really, do you think we're actually going to get rid of the federal bureaucracy?) but it all boils down to right wing and left wing because that's the way things will always line up in a two party system.
