poker crew: texas hold'em question

say in a final betting round, the person infront of me bets, and i call the bet. he turns over his cards first, and i know i've been beat... can i muck my cards or is he entitled to see them if he wants?

i know i shouldn't, but is he entitled to see the cards since i saw the bet? what if it was the other way around, and he called my bet and he showed his cards first? could i still muck my hand, or does he have a right to see them if he wants?

hm, i looked up the def. for 'muck'

1. (n) The area on the table where all of the dead cards are placed. Any hand that was folded and all burned cards are placed in the muck.

2. (v) To throw your hand away into the muck. This term is often used when another hand is shown at the showdown that beats your hand.
so technically, you can 'muck' your hand. he doesnt have a right to see them.
