friend needs some help.
a friend of mine is looking in to buying a car since his sux right now. he found a 3000gt for sale and it looks pretty good. so i stopped by to look at it for him and asked the guy some questions. the body is in real good shape and the interior is clean. it has some miles on it tho, 160,000. i spoke to the owner and he said the car feels like it has lost a lot of power some how. i asked if i could drive it and he said maybe during the week, he would call me. i do not know much about mitsubishis, but i thought i would help out a friend. the guy had a the motor looked over and everything SEEMED good according to him, but he thinks its something in the head. what do you guys think? i know that isnt much to go on, but its the only info i have. its a non-turbo, 5spd model.
Well if you've lost enough compression you can definately feel like you've lost power. :dunno:
Mitsubishi's are generally unreliable cars. On top of that, 3000GT's are tempermental cars, and tempermental cars with 160,000 miles on them is even worse.
If you want a cheap Japanese sports car, find an older 300ZX.

first off, that thing is gonna be a slow, heavy boat.
Second, I wouldn't buy ANY car, much less a sportscar, with serious powertrain issues.
Thirdly, under no circumstances should your buddy buy a tempermental high-milage car.... I know first hand. My supra was the bane of my existance for two years until I sold the bitch. You'll just keep having problems.
And finally, that car is gonna be a slow, heavy boat. Wait, did I mention that already?
...not to mention unfavorable insurance rates.
