Default Bad Idea?

For those that don't have a boyfriend/girlfriend, would it be a bad idea to give a valentines gift to just a friend?

I happen to have a couple of friends that don't have boyfriends and thought it would be a nice gesture to just get them a little something just so they don't feel left out of the upcoming occasion.

What do you think?

I personally think its shoving it into one's face. But, thats my opinion and not the holy truth.

I don't think it's a good idea. Likely to send mixed signals.

how close are you as friends? if they're like friends that you trust a lot and can talk to them about anything, something small and inexpensive is nice. and if you're writing a card or a note with it, keep the tone very light and funny

Hmm... Never really thought of it that way. I just figured that since they wouldn't expect anything from anybody, it would be a nice surprise to give them a rose or something to help brighten their day.

Yes to some, but you gotta be careful though because like someone mentioned it could be mixed signals they get or just get pissed off.

Well I am pretty close to them and I'm not expecting anything out of it. It's just that they mentioned that they weren't looking forward to this weekend because of the occasion and I thought I would help bring a smile to their face by surprising them.

I thought about doing that, but we're really really good friends and I don't want that to change :/
