Well if your firewire card is installed or in its PCMCIA slot correctly all you should have to do is turn the camera to VCR mode and it should prompt you to capture on the comp, you may have to fire up your edit program and go into capture video mode then you will be able to control the camera from the computers interface....kinda convenient really.

For ease of use and interface I would look for Vegas 4.0.....it is as powerful as Adobe Premiere is without all the hassle of redundant steps for the same results. Vegas also does capture in any format you have a Codec for.

You can also use the Windows Movie maker software included in windoze...it is a fair software with drag and drop simplicity and also has a capture program in it that should recognize any firewire app.

install the drivers for that camera if nothing happens. Did u put camera in vcr mode?

With firewire you don't need to install any drivers it should instantly recognize the device under generic description and do everything it needs to run it without any drivers.

Besides there are no drivers for firewire cameras...only USB needs the drivers.

the firewire card came with the computer, and yes it was in VCR mode
