so i searched google and it came up with this site:

gps is accurate within 2 meters 45% of the time, and 7 meters 95% of the time

This is dependent on your signal level at the time as well as how good of a GPS receiver you have. My brother is a surveyor and his stuff is accurate to about two inches.
