yeah, thats the wheel...they mentioned why they didn't put in a clutch...this was from one of their interviews:

PSM: Did you ever consider the option of a clutch or clutch pedal in the game?

Kazunori Yamauchi: Yes, I considered the option of a clutch or clutch pedal in the game which is technically possible, however, the clutch operation relies on the gravity that the driver feels, and gravity force has been difficult to simulate, so there is no clutch.

that doesn't quite make sense to me. I think it could be a simple mechanical thing. Run a cable from the clutch pedal to the shifter, if the clutch isn't pressed, you can't shift gears. What does gravity have to do with it?

I think the creator meant that each driver has a different style of shifting and each car has a different kind of manual transmission. Its all about the feel.

yea i played a driving simulator at wildwood NJ that had a clutch. It was pretty bad-ass. Lemme kno if u find 1 for the PS2. Those wheels are cool and i was going to get one, but i dont like the shifters. You just press them up and down, so its not like the real shifting, and downshiftfing is just smashing the shifter down a bunch of times:oh:
