Default Lock icon next to someone's AIM name?

Someone on my buddy list has a lock icon next to their name. Any idea what it means?

Ya.

http://www.aimencrypt.com/

Watch out though because even though it's a supposedly useful feature the site tries to install some kinda evil ActiveX control.

www.thawte.com .... it's quite a bit of a process... but if you want security then you have to go through with it. You basically have to sign up like you are going to get a free email security cert. Go through allllll the steps, install the cert into IE, then export it to a file, then import it into AIM. Took me about an hour to figure it all out... but it's cool.

Don't use that BS aimencrypt.com one... it's not secure, well for the simple fact that EVERYONE IS USING THE SAME ENCRYPTION KEY. :slap:

And since I used to sniff packets on the college network sometimes, it's really easy to see what people were saying back and forth over AIM. Hey, some slow night with nothing to do.... why not snoop on peoples private lives a bit? :rick:

sometimes.... a lot of perverts... tons actually. Lots of warez and passing around of info on how to crack/serial the lattest app/game. Every now and then there'd be an e-breakup or an e-friend fight. And of course lots of the ever popular e-thuggin.
