laptop cooler -- does it work / worth it?

heat kills computers. most of the heat off of a laptop comes from the battery which usually sits on the bottom. those fans look like they will do a good job of moving the heat.
how much noise would they add.

i'd get the one without the fans....
the one that raises the backside higher....those help a lot...especially with my G4.
