Why not?

One hypothesis that I'm coming up with on the spot is that the owner didn't want the heat associated with a turbo to be located under the hood.

Also it's a bit of a pain to do a single turbo on a V8 since the exhaust manifolds necessary to accomplish such a setup are kind of complicated.
