Well I was illegally joyriding around Seattle and there was another small black honda right next to me when I was changing lanes, and I bumped into him. I scraped up the side of his wheel well a bit, but the damage wasn't bad. No damage to my car besides coolant leaking (which I found out tonight that it was from a really old hose so it was bound to leak sometimes anyway).

But the problem was I only have a learner's permit. No license or insurance. And you know what happens when an accident happens ... you call the cops. I was just breaking down emotionally cause I thought my ass was going to be nailed and HARD. I was thinking of the consequences that I might face.

I've heard of rumors where your car would be impounded, you would be suspended of a license, AND a mondo huge fine for not having a license when you're driving. So a cop came ... I gave him my permit and admitted I had no insurance. He talked to the other driver for a little while and told him he was good to go, then he drove off.

The driver was really cool about the accident, he was not angry, worried, or anything. He said I had a cool car too. What a cool guy. We even shook hands before he got back to driving his car.

So anyways, the cop was in his car and was doing a lot of stuff with his in-car computer. I was examining my car for damage and looked for the place where the coolant was leaking, but I was ner-vous that the cop would come out and say I was not eligable to drive by myself, seriously creaming my ass.

But he didn't! He wrote up a $700 ticket (and my car was $1500 ... ) for unawareness and lack of insurance and said to drive carefully!! Did this cop not notice that it was only a permit?? Holy CRAP I was surprised I got out of that one. But really though, do you think he got it mistaken for a license??

I feel pretty bad having all this on my record for only having a permit. Praise the Lord I have my car and my parents don't know. And they don't even have to get involved with the ticket. It was a ka-razy night. And I arrived at home and got in bed about 10 minutes before my mom's alarm went off to get my sister ready for school. WHEW. What a night!

I have a really really important question to ask you guys though. I will have had my permit for 6 months in about a month. That means I would be eligable to have a license. Would I still be able to get it on the 6 month mark with that on my record? Will they even notice? Will they care? I mean, this could have happened on my mom's car too so they could assume it happened when driving legally. What do you think???
