Default VTEC lifters problem

I drive '94 teg with B16A head and I hear strange and annoying flaping noises in mid rev (2.500-3.000). It seems that it can be some problem with lost motion assemblies, that might be worn off.

My questions are:
1. How can I identify which one LMA is causing this problem?
2. Is there any way to fix this problem, excluding option of replacing LMA for brand new one.

Thanks in advance for any help.
