Default no. 9 code in 89 teg.

i got a no. 9 code on my teg. mechanic says it is tdc sensor. After search i found no. 9 is no #1 cyl. Is he wrong? Isn't there a separate code for the tdc sensor?

here is the history of events that led to this.

1. car was running fine, distributor gave out.

2. replaced dist. and had mech. set timing.

3. CE light comes on and car has a hicup at 3200 rpms.

4. had mech double check timing and changed plugs/wires/new cap and rotor came with distributor.

what could it be?

is this sensor in my distributor or is it in the metal housing just in front of the distributor? Mechanic says it is the housing just in front and manual says it is in distributor......

the resistance of what ever is in that housing is about 1000 ohms.....that is deemed high by the manual if my car were an 87-88 but mine is an 89.....checked the build date on the door sill.

help?
