93 Integra - Trying to get my axles out...
Just bought my first Integra - '93 - these are cool cars!
I'm completely going through the brake system and I also need to replace both axles. I got the nuts off after breaking a 1/2" extension and screwing up my Craftsman ratchet. I can tell someones replaced axles before. I backed the nut off ~1/8" and pounded it with a large ball pein and a wood block - then went to an aluminum block....neither spline moves at all. The area where the splines come thru the hubs behind the nuts looks rusty.
Can I use some kind of puller on the lug studs to push the axle out? Should it be possible to get some movement of the splines without totally taking the suspension apart? What's worse case? - taking the whole knuckle/axle assembly to a hydraulic press? Help!
