Default high pitched noise?? anyone else get this

ok, i was j/ driving last week and i start to hear this high pitched noise coming from the back left side of my car. when the wheel is straight or left, i can hear the sound. when i go right, it goes away. also when i apply the brakes, the sound goes away again. if im going slow, ill put the brakes on pretty hard and then it will go away. sometimes when im driving i dont hear it at all and other times i can hear it. is this a sign telling me i need to change my brake pads? or what?

yes, its time to replace the pads. if your teg is old, check the caliper too - may be seizing.

Mine was doing the same thing for a while. It would squeek until about 25mph and do everything you said, but my pads still have much life in them.
