1990 Integra 4DR...should i get it?
Ok, heres the deal.
I am being offered an 1990 Acura Integra Beige 4 door sedan....5 speed...im not sure if its GS or LS but it has power everything...
It is beautiful (not a fan of the color thou)..but no dings or scratchs..mint condition..
EXCEPT..180,000 miles..kinda scares me...
He wants $1000 for it..
Should i go for it?
This will be my first car by the way.
Thanks for any help,
Kevin

I have a 92 teg ls w/ 160k and it runs great plenty of power when i want it and a comfortable ride.
i belive that i have the same engine as the 90 teg, would a b18ca which puts out 139 hp and a red line of 6750. by the sound of the outside and 100k highway miles it sounds like an ok car, and the 1000 isn't a bad price but i would try to drop him a hundred or so. and know that if the body is in great condition when the engine does go that a complete swap of a another b series engine is a good possibility, b16a's for example, you can get the engine alone for around 600 or complete swap for alittle over a thou and it will have even more power and typically the engine will have under 35k, like new.

Sounds like a pretty good deal. I'm a fan of the 4 door Integras. It would probably be worth it to pay some mechanic like $50 to go over the engine and make sure everything checks out. Even if everything is in pretty good shape, a car with that many miles is likely to have something go wrong with it in the next 10k-20k miles, so you should expect to have to do some work on it from time to time.

Ya im def. ready for the work..and stuff breaking...just not paying the big bucks part lol...
Hopefully it will be little things..
Oh ya and my bro (the one getting me this connection.lol) said its dual overhead cam...does this make it faster?..if so, how much?
im def. interested in the car now..so much stuff to buy for not so big prices..might be a good car to fix up...
+ not much can go more wrong than my bros first car...transmission went out! ouch!

dohc isn't really a power gain as much of a preformance gain, your engine reacts quicker, and seems more tune to what your doing. better timeing. but yes dual overhead cams a a moderatly big plus

DOHC engines generally make more power than equallly equipped SOHC engines. VTEC is another thing. For example:
Civic DX
1.6 SOHC
106 hp
Civic EX
1.6 SOHC VTEC
135 hp
Civic Si
1.6 DOHC VTEC
160 hp
Integra RS, LS, GS
1.8 DOHC
140 hp
Integra GS-R
1.8 DOHC VTEC
170 hp
Basically, 180k is a load of miles and stuff will be going wrong, like JGordon said, but fixing stuff is a great way to learn about fixing stuff. Hope you have some money saved up for repairs. I'd get it cause there aren't a lot of 5 speed 4 door integras out there and it's a fun car for a little money.
