Finally got some pics up of the 4bidden shifter I installed the other day. Also got some shots of my Razo 340g (12oz) knob. Thought some of you might want to see what this shifter looks like in the 5th gen Accords.

Very nice! How's the shifting? Shorter? Smoother? Faster? Did you purchase parts 26 & 27 (the bolt and collar from the prelude) to make it fit properly? I too am also waiting for the group buy. I can't wait!

Yes the throws feel much shorter, especially 3rd and 4th gears. Sits about 1.5" shorter than stock height. Overall I am very happy with the way it feels and sits lower. I only used part #26 which is the bolt from the prelude.

How much did you pay for that? And is it easy to install?

The install is fairly easy. Its harder getting the stock one out than it is putting in the new one. Disconnect the linkages and remove the base plate take out the shifter and transfer the guts into the new shifter and put it all back together. Ive never done it before and it took me about a hour start to finish. :thumbup:

I got it from him on Ebay for about $134 but you can get it cheaper if you join his groupbuy thats going on now.

does it feel kinda notchy? see I got mine a while ago, and I was the first for a 90-93 accord so I knew I was taking a chance. anyway now he found out that there is a difference in the base plates and he says you should get a prelude base plate. which would explain why mine always felt a little strange meanwhile everyone was giving it these great reviews. so Im just wondering if yours doesnt feel as smooth as it should.

I find 1st and 2nd are a little bit stiffer with this shifter but I really dont find it notchy. I personally dont understand the base plate issue. There is nothing on the Accord base plate that interferes with the shifter so I dont really think it would help any by replacing it.

The issue with the Accord base plates is that it is shorter which allows less flex for the cable attached to the shift lever. That is what accounts for that feeling towards 1st and 2nd.

96Vtec, did you try it out on the lowest setting? The lowest setting in an Accord is probably equivalent to the middle setting when used in a Prelude.
