can 9006 bulb be modified to fit in the 9005 socket?

they will melt the socket. the higher wattage makes it much hotter.

got it backwards probably
they probably have 9006 lowbeams and 9005 highbeams. 9006 bulbs have the painted cap over the end. also, 9006 is lower wattage, not very good for high beam.
the two sockets (low/high) are not the same, there are little tabs in different locations around the ring to prevent you from accidentally putting the wrong bulb in. you'd have to cut into the housing with a dremel or a file or somethin. also, the electrical socket is different...one has a single tab and one has two tabs.
