Hi All!

My car is 03 Accord V6 EX Sedan. I like Moda R6 from tirerack.com, 18x8 45 mm offset. I plan going with 235/40/18 tires (1.1% different with stock wheels); 225/40/18 (2.3% different). Stock offset is 55 mm.

My question is that am I going to get rubbed on the inner wall? And does the tire rubber stick out of the car fender too much? I really want a flush, smooth look. I will not drop my car, so the fender should be OK.

Please give me some comments or inputs. Plan ordering the wheels later this month.

I think you will definitely want to drop the car after you get 18" rims IMO...

I know for sure that an 6th gen Accord with 18x7.5" +45 offset rims on 225/40-18 tires will not rub. That is already cutting it close, as my 6th gen sedan has the same setup only with +43mm offset an I rub under heavy loads.

I have absolutely no idea if it's the same for 7th gens.

It's true...you might change your mind after you get the wheels on the car, it'll look kinda funny without any drop.

I'm sure you'd be totally safe with the 225 set up, not sure on the 235. I think if anything you would rub on the outside of the fender in the rear under hard loading of the suspension. I'll have to look and see how much clearance I have on my 225/40 18 setup on my sixth gen just to compare. What about a 225/45 setup? (too lazy to figure it out myself).

The +45 offset is good though. That's what I have, and my front tires are flush or slightly tucked inside the wheel wells. The rears have a bit of negative camber and the tops are tucked into the wheel wells.

Nice choice on the Moda R6, I wanted them on my car, but I was out of luck with my 4 lugs.

umm, the wheels he is getting are 8" wide vs. ours which are 7.5" wide. I am not sure what the correct offset is supposed to be for an 8" wide rim...

jschmid, I did look for 225/45/18 tires, but it is damn expensive, $195/each. It is perfect without price consideration.

Even with 225 width, Moda R6 18" is 18x8. Will I got rubbed anyway on inner wall because your 18" is 18x17.5, a bit narrower?

Thanks for your suggestion! I don't think any drop for now. So, I am not worring about getting rubbed with top fenders. If I don't have a clear result, I probably go with 17" instead which is quite small for 03 Accord.

Again, please help me to clear this thing out!!! I can't stand with stock rim look, look dump and old.

well first of all let me clear the confusion.

By getting 8" wide rims you maybe be pushing it when it comes to rubbing. If they make those same rims in 18x7.5" on the same offset (+45mm) then that would be perfect.

However, you have an 03 Accord, and I am not sure if the same wheel offset issues will apply on the new 7th gens. You wouldn't want to spend the money without knowing exactly what will happen when it comes to rubbing.

As for my car, I have the same setup as jschmid , only that my offset is +43mm:

18x7.5" rims
225/40-18 tires

In my case, the wheels/tires are sticking 2mm out more than they should be. My car is currently on stock height, which is very soft. Once I get stiffer lowering springs, the back may not rub anymore, but the ability for the tires to rub will still be there. It is touching on the rear bumper lip on the fender well, so all I have might have to do is shave away part of the bumper lip.

As for tire size, my stock set up was 195/65-15, and the new setup is 225/40-18. My speedometer is off by 0.4% At 60mph, my speedometer will read 60.3mph.

oh yeah, as for rubbing on the inner side, it's un heard of on our Accords. Stuff like that happens on RWD domestics with low offset, ultra-wide rims

My stock tire size is 205/60/16, rim offset 55 mm (16x6.5 I think). I thought I would not get rubbed with the lips of fender if I don't drop the car and keep the same diameter of the wheels. 225/40-18 would be 2.3% off for speedo and gear ratios, which is quite large.

If there is so much trouble and confusion, I probably go with 17", not much different with stock except for rim style. If Moda R6 has 18x7.5, it would be perfect. I don't know what to decide if still going with this Moda R6.

Try giving a call to tires.com sales help. I just ordered 4 Konig Tantrums w/ tires from then in 18x7.5 for $1076 flat w/free mounting and balancing and shipping. When I calculated it separately, it was more expensive than that. They might be able to hook it up if you ask them (if you're willing to maybe compromise price for rubbing), but they have some cheap tires too. If you're getting 18's most lo-profiles should be okay or am i wrong
