Default Preventing Chrome Exhaust Tip From Rusting?

Can this be done?

The guy from Midas said that if I take care of the tip properly it will not rust. I will probably go with a stainless steel tip anyhow.

What do you guys think?

:dunno: I'd just clean it regularly and try to keep salt and stuff off of it. If it does rust though you could just go buy a new one couldn't you? They can't be too expensive.

whenever i clean my car i use a solvent called Silvo (its sold in most hardware stores) u just wipe it on and buff it till it shines like new. I've had my tip for almost two years and it still looks new

Here's a link to Silvo home site

a good quality SS tip should not rust. just clean it and polish it when you wax the car and it'll stay nice.

i just cleaned out my finishers on my '97 EX last night. I used some Chem-tool B12 to get it off b/c i had never cleaned it before. Had to do some scraping and scrubbing to completely remove all that stuff.

WD-40 works pretty well, too. But not as good as the chem-tool.

SS tips wont rust, but chrome can be a pain. Even SS will get black over time from the exhaust, but it can be cleaned off... hince, cannot be STAINED. Anyways, I would def. go with SS and not chrome, practically looks the same anyways. Just a little more expensive.

LOL, my door handles are chrome PLASTIC man. Theres no way I could apply something like Silvo to them. It would destroy them.

The door handles look DAMN good by the way. Just like an Acura 3.2 TL.

I love 'em. I only put the chrome on the part of the handle you lift up.
