Default Turbo a 97 GS with 106k miles?

My friend's GS has about 106k miles on it and he wants to put a turbo kit on it, so im wondering if 106k miles is too high for a stock bottom-end engine to handle boost?

if he rebuilds the internals he should be fine i would think...and also it depends on how much he abuses the current engine because a stock internaled engine could handle it if it isn't beaten too badly

If he wants to do a turbo setup he should make sure the car is running in top notch condition. I also suggest doing a leak down test to see what condition the internals are in. The steps on how to do this are at www.g2ic.com
If the leak down test and everything else is doing good have him go for it.

He should probably stay under 8 pounds.

8 pounds sounds good wouldn't go much higher than that but tuning is a key part in this if he wants his stock engine to take it he must have it tuned. I'm sure all these questions have been answered before so try doing a search.

i think you can go higher than that? having your internals reinforced and rebuilt can make your motor a lot stronger. even with high milage.
