Default Anyone here hardwire their Radar Detector?

I'm planning on buying a Passport 8500. The real appeal of this one is that its invisible to radar detector detectors used in Virginia.

I live in NC but occassionally drive through VA (radar is illegal here thanks to the insurance lobbyists) when we go skiing in W. Virginia.

Anyone know how to hardwire the radar, or at least hide the cord in the headliner/dash so that its not hanging down in front of the windshield?

I want to place the radar above the rearview mirror w/suction cups.

Thanks in advance.

Well, I can get you part way there... I've got my wire going up the drivers side A pillar, but it's not under the headliner so a cop could see mine (legal here). I did it for aesthetics. You can pry off the A pillar cover at the top and slide it up and out. Easy to tape the wire there and down the left side of the dash. Maybe someone else will know about the headliner removal?!?

you want it hidden in case you get pulled over... and there's no way to hide something secured above your mirror when he walks up to the car. Better to just leave the cord hanging there, so that you can tear it down and toss it under the seat before he pulls you over.

you can tuck it into the headliner using a flat screwdriver and pushing it in. Really easy and quick since the wire is soo thin. You can purchase the hardwire kit from Escort directly for like $10.
