Default NEED help please! Acura CL rear brake

I just removed both rear calipers and rotors in a 1997 Acura cl 2.0 The question I have is the "squeal bracket" (metal "bracket" that connects with the rotor so you will hear when you need to replace) was put in two different ways. One side was put on the inside (towards the exhaust) one was put on the "street side" of the car. Should the metal bracket go inward or outward? Thanks for your help, my guess is inside to make contact with the rotor.

THANKS in advance

here is a image of the pads.

The brake wear indicator will need to point towards the brake rotor.
