Default Whirring Sound 2000 CL

I have a 2001 CL with 123K miles and it just started making a whirring or humming sound. It starts when I hit 3rd gear. It is an automatic and it the sound seems to be coming from the engine. The sound doesn't speed up but it does become slightly higher pitched the faster I go. It also seems to being running on a pretty low idle (2k at 70 mph). I've searched and searched and can't come up with anything. Does anyone have any ideas?? The car seems to be running just fine but I definitely want to get this fixed...

It can be so many things. Any of the accessories could have a bearing going out as well as the turbo. Also the fan clutch can make a fairly loud whirring sound when it starts to fail.

It's possible it's your transmission. Mine whines some, all the time. It was replaced under the extra extra extended warranty by previous owner but has whined since I got it with 100xxx k miles on it. Check your VIN with an Acura dealer to see if it is still covered.
Read all the threads here and other forums on the tranny issue with 2 Gen Acuras with 5 AT.
2K ish RPM at 70 is normal.

My two cents.
