Default What's the best tire shine?

What's up & Happy Easter? what's the best tire shine sold over the counter from Autozone etc.. that'll give you that wet look like car dealerships use.

I love the wet look on my tires. Besides that's what set your ride off after a good wash job whether you have a great paint job or not.

Thanks

it's not over the counter but 303 will give you that wet look. just apply with a sponge and leave it. if you want it to look really wet reapply in 1-2hrs.

easiest place is online and it's usually $15 for 16oz
just google 303 protectant. bonus is that you can also use it on all other plastic/vinyl stuff on your car.

Try RV stores or boating stores locally. They may carry it.

Meguiars #40 is also very good. It is in the professional line (tan bottle).

over the counter tire things i've used:

on a scale of 1-10, 1 being suckiest

Black magic foam - 2 uneven absorption, browning, longevity - avoid
Turtle Wax foam - 4 -nice application and okay end product, but longevity is no good
Meguiars Hot Shine - 4 same issues as turtle wax
Meguiars foam - 4 -same issues as turtle wax
Meguiars endurance gel - 8 looks good and lasts long - but application can be messy, and the gel attracts dirt easily.
Meguiars Inane Shine spray - 8 for looks/ 2 for longevity - even if the car sits without being driven, the shine goes away within a few days.
Stoner More Shine - 9 for looks / 7 for longevity - my personal choice - good application, good looks, low sling, lasts long enough between carwashes.

Im sure there are better products out there, but applying gels/sprays with a sponge always makes my fingernails really dirty/ugly (and smelly), so I favor sprays/touchless tire products.

I like the look of shined tires, but when working at the last tire shop I was at, good year was visiting making sure we were keeping up with making their product look good and said to use vaseline or dish soap for shining and that tire shine products actually made the tires degrade, is there any truth to this? if so I might try out the alternate choices.

vaseline is a petroleum product so that would degrade rubber over time. I've heard that armor all can do the same. 303 protectant does degrade the rubber or plastic but rather protects it (like the name says)

the thing i really hate about these tire shine that makes it look super duper shiny is that they spin off the tire and leave splatter marks all over the fender and body work.

my guess is if it lasts that long it's not water based. probably silicon based.
