I just bought a 96 Acura TL in great shape (2.5 Premium with the auto temp control). The car was well taken care of by the former owner, and is in excellent shape overall.

Except - the heater fan seems to have a mind of its own. It works now and then for a day or so, then doesn't work for a day or so.

I can't seem to find many resources on-line for troubleshooting from others with similar problems, and also having no luck with finding wiring diagrams. I've also shopped at B&N and my usual parts stores and can't seem to obtain a Chiltons Repair Manual.

(I assume I could order one, will have to check that out)

Do I need to bite the bullet and take it to a dealership?

Is this a common problem with these cars?

I do know the fan box is tucked up way in / under the dash and it looks like it will be a real pain to change out if the fan is the problem, but since it works now and then I'm also inclined to think the problem is in the controller mounted in the dash...

I see a new controller can be had both salvage and new from eBay for around $50.

Any ideas?
