Default RIMS Question

i am trying to sell my rims, and i have been offered a trade on a set of enkei RS 6's. they are descent, i like them better than mine, but they are 18's. i have 17's on now. would the 18 fit the same, but my car would just sit a half inch higher, and id have to also lift it a half inch. so id actually be an inch higher. Am i missing something or will it just sit an inch higher.
Also is it possible to take that black plastic **** out of my wheel wells, or do you need that ****, because if i got rid of that i could drop it more to make up for that inch.

As for the first half of your paragraph..... As for the the black plastic, I haven't had any for a while but your engine bay gets pretty dirty at times so its up to you. Good luck with the 18s.

Well first off, if the 18's have the correct tire size, 205/35/18, then the overall diamter should still be very close to the 17's if you have 205/40/17. Again, if the tire size is correct, then your car won't sit any higher or anything like that....

If the tire size is not 205/35/18, then YES you will have some problems. If your dropped too low, then you will have some rubbing issues. Also if the offset is not 42-45mm, then this will also contribute to rubbing problems.

Overall though, the 18's will look more bling, bling, weigh more (which will kill your stop and go acceleration), and also ride a lot harsher - meaning the bumps and pot holes you were felling before with the 17's will be amplified even more....

Don't do it. If you plan on riding on these wheels everyday, it's not going to be worth it. I'd wait til someone actually buys your existing wheels rather than just trading (unless you're trading to something that you want).

Try putting them up on www.thepartstrader.com or your local classifieds. But like you said, you might want to wait to sell your wheels. Most likely someone would buy them after the holidays...

I personally thought my 16's were too big to be practical so I'm going back to 15's.

I think 18's on a Civic was way too big. With 35-series tires on there, you would have to be VERY careful with the way you drive or you'll end up with chipped/bent/scratched/curbed rims.

If you have a CAI, don't remove the plastic from the wheel well... else, you'll get all sort of crap on your filter... including H2O.
