Default bad ignition wires can cause fried cap+rotor?

currently im aware that my stock ignition wires are on their way out. today its been raining mostly and i my car didnt start due to the moisture.

what i want to know is if my spark plug wires are bad, would they cause any damage to the cap and rotor?

I dont think the wires, you might have a cracked cap if it wont start, it was raining all day here and my car started fine.. a bad coil could fry a rotor and cap

its been starting fine, but when humidity kicks in thats when i've had trouble lately. and not just a little humidity, ALOT of humdity.

anyways, i tried starting it a bunch of times already and it didnt go. i bet there's plenty of gas soaking it now!

im getting my NGK wires tomarrow, and they couldnt have come in at a better time.

bad wires would not make your car not start. more on the lines of a worn our cap and/or rotor. your wires are fine.

bad IC will not fry a rotor or cap... they are none electrical so they can't "fry"

if it doesn't start only when there is humidity, then look into getting a new cap

well i know what my problem is - my cap is OK, but the screws holding it in place were not! two of the screws had the heads broken off (i guess due to road salt, whoopdeedo) and so their threads are stuck in the sockets. ideas on how to get them out?

to get them out, just take the other screw out, pop it off, and grab what's left with a pair of pliers. If you can't do that, it's time to bust out the "easy outs."

If you go to a hardware store, or sears, and say you're looking for easy outs, they'll know what you're talking about. You drill a small hole in the center of the bolt or screw you want to get out, then tap this thing in that looks like a pointy 4 sided bit... Much like a drill bit. Tap it in, then use a box wrench and turn the thing backwards, and it rotates the screw...
