Moved to Drag Strip...

We don't condone street racing here.

So if you want this thread to remain open, we'd better see some timeslips.

I'm completely lost as to what that means.

OP: You need a different tranny, that LS is gonna junk very quick. Especially with hard use. I've heard of a stock LS/Vtec blowing 3 tranny's in one year.

Read that guys post. He had a stock SiR-G motor (JDM b18c1) and blew his LS tranny several times. Your pushing an additional 100 hp to that, or close?

LS tranny's are better for turbo applications though.

I think you would beat him.
If the GTI has the DSG tranny then that means it's faster than the manual GTI. I'd say once you get traction you would take him.

Depends on how you define better. The LS transmission is weaker overall. The gear ratios are lower, giving you a higher top end speed at the cost of acceleration. (RPM is lower at a given speed)

The GSR gear ratios are higher, giving you faster acceleration at the cost of top end speed. (RPM is Higher at a given speed)

Granted, it is a turbo motor so the minimal gearing variance is not a big difference in over all acceleration.

LS Transmission Specs:
1st: 3.230
2nd: 1.90
3rd: 1.269
4th: 0.966
5th: 0.714
Reverse: 3.000
Final Drive: 4.266:1

GSR Transmission Specs:
1st: 3.230
2nd: 1.900
3rd: 1.360
4th: 1.034
5th: 0.787
Reverse: 3.000
Final Drive: 4.400

yeah it looks like u have done ur research bro....but u need to factor in a couple of things...yeah my setup would be better with a gsr tranny right now but when im pushing close to 500hp the gsr gears are going to go by way to fast and u wont get any traction wat so ever...the LS tranny is used in alot of the high horsepower applications....so yeah ur right about my setup i should get a gsr tranny...but im not stopping at 300whp though so for me to waste my money on a gsr tranny just to swap it out in the near future would be stupid...i could use that money for better internals and better suspension...the race didnt happen last night because he said he wasnt ready to race and that i didnt give him a heads up that we were supposed to race last night...Granted that i dont have his number so i couldn't of contacted him but some of his friends are my friends and they told me that he was talking sh*t and said aiight to race last night....This sh*t wont happen again because i have his number now and i can call him to set everything up myself......LETS JUST HOPE HE PICKS UP!!!
