At speeds of 55 to 70 mph noise when braking
Hi,
I have 2005 Accord 4cyl Auto.
When I am braking at speeds over 55mph there is a noise coming from the brakes (ooooooommmmmmmm kind of noise). The stearing wheel does not shake nor does the brake pedal.
The car now has 12,500 miles. I took the car to the dealer when it had 11,000 miles and the dealer said all was well. Now, the car is over 12,000 miles and the brakes warranty I believe expired.
I am just afraid that rotors might be warped and that the dealer will try to charge me now that the car has over 12k miles. I will fight it because I brought the car to the dealer for this issue prior to 12k but....
I also think this could be maybe caused by a broken or cracked brake pad (this happened to me on my 02 camry).
Any ideas as to:
1. What this noise could be?
2. How to fight with the dealer?

Wow...you've really had many issues with that car. Makes me not even want to consider a 7th gen accord.
Have you visually inspected the brake pads to see if they are cracked?
If its cracked pads its very easy to change yourself.

hey,
I have a 2005 Honda Accord EX and i've never heard that except for this one time when i had to brake abruptly (it was the ABS). But what your accord is doing sounds interesting. Maybe you should try taking it to another dealorship.

brake rotors
if you say that you dont experience any vibration at the steering wheel then your problem is prolly not warped rotors. the pads should be easy to check. the only difficult part is removing the caliper. you'll need a C-wrench, if possible one of those cool ones with the bearing in it. on my 5th gen, a socket wont fit in the space.
sorry i cant be of more help.
dont let the dealer take your money,

Hi ,
Actually I really did not have problems with the car besides this minor plastic-interior harnes sounding issues.
As for brakes -yes, a pad was cracked. I replaced them on front wheels (put new ones on) and all is well now. A friend of mine did it for $20 bucks and some chit-chat while he was working.
I did notice that the rotors were slightly discolored so I don't know if that is normal or a sign of warping to come....
