Default 02 lx 4cyl will not go above 5200 RPMs

In my wifes car I was going 40 then got on it to switch lanes, RPM rises then drops. When i was driving i thought it was the trans, but then I started to play with the throttle and realized the engine was losing rpms. At home in neutral parked, the engine was cutting off at 5200, (I don't think thats when the rev limiter kicks in) down to around 4700.

Also, the emission warning lamp came on.

It happend more than once on the way home at differrent speeds. It seems like it is not getting oxygen or fuel.

whats up

Hard to tell without being able to run some tests on the car. First off, read the DTC in the computer. Sounds like a TPS, maybe.

Check/change your oil. If your oil pressure is low VTEC will not engage. ANd usually on the 6th gen 4cyl Accords VTEC can engage anywhere from 4500-4900RPM's
