Default What engine fits a 98 civic LX

What engine will fit in an automatic 1998 civic LX? Would a D15 SOHC Vtec motor go in? If things dont go well with my brothers motor- we are going to swap a motor into it. We dont want to have to do any special fabbing, or spend a ton of money.

If you dont want to spend that much money just get the same stock engine again

Does anybody know where I can get a stock engine? The stock engine is a D16Y7, but I cant find it anywhere on the web or on JDM motor websites. a D15 SOHC VTEC is only about 400 bucks, and we think that would be cheaper than a newer 1998 motor would be? Couldnt we get a harness to convert the OBD and put a diff motor in?

have you tried looking at junkyards? They probally have a couple civic
and the D15 is OBD1 you would have to get a conversion harness and run vtec wires. Probally be easier just to get another d16y7 or a d16y8 that way you wont have to mess with any wiring just put it in and your all set. Try looking on the classifieds on Honda-tech, or on here, im sure you will find one

trying to find a junk car around here newer than a 92 is like winning the lottery- wont happen.
