VTEC cutting out OR Fuel problem?
Hey all, I've got a 97 Accord EX lightly modded. When I enter a corner at a high rate of speed the car seems as if the VTEC cuts out as it slows down, then when I exit the turn and start going straight again it seems as if VTEC kicks in again because the car will surge? I thought this might be related to the fuel delivery as well, but not sure. Any ideas?

been there done that
sounds like you're losing oil pressure when you go around turns. the oil is splashing all over the place instead of being in the sump where it needs to be. check your oil levels.

Trust me. Change your oil. I had the same problem. What happens is that when you enter a sharp turn (while still accelerating) your oil is tossed to one side. And since VTEC operates on oil pressure, if the system senses the oil pressure is low VTEC will not ENGAGE. You'll probably won't rev higher than 4K RPM's until you exit the turn or until pressure leveled.

Well, that was it! I'm amazed though at how fast all the oil burnt. I change the Syntec every 3k, granted I drive pretty hard when I get to the hills, but I didn't think I would use it up that quick. I probably only have about 2k since the last change. Any reason I would be going through so much? There are 145k on the car but it doesn't leak anywhere?

Sorry, that I can't tell you. all cars consume a little oil I guess. But I doubt it comsumed 4 quarts of oil though. Next time it's time for your oil change check the oil level before you change the oil. Just to get somewhat of an idea how much your car consumes.
