You know you can mod this unit like super easily, without a modchip or anything to solder right? All you need is one simple disc you buy for about $22 shipped.
And provided you have a DVD burner, with freeware software you can basically make a "one click" backup of any game.
All you would do is: 1) Insert special disc, 2) Power PS2 on and wait for "Load Program" menu, 3) Open lid and swap disc for burned game and press X on load program
Edit: You have to open the console, but there are ways to keep the warranty stick intact
I've modified several PS2s with this easy method without breaking the warranty seal (you open the PS2 and tape down two tiny switches with scotch tape)
