Default '94 Civic DX clutch question

My son called from college and said his '94 dx clutch was grabbing almost at the floor. Said it felt like no resistance until it was almost to the floor.

Is this a Hydralic system? Or cable?

Maybe a bad Master? Or just air in the line?

Any hints are appreciated.

I would check for air in the lines, try bleeding the clutch.

The question is how would the air have gotten in there, if it did!
