I keep seeing posts here and there saying the JR supercharger for the D16Y8 sucks, but no one says why.

The design and performance you get for a supercharger does not suck. It is a great upgrade for a daily driven car that wants instant torque and power. However, since Jackson Racing has sold their design and products to Moss Motors who distributes their stuff...the quality control and reliability just went downhill IMO. Having worked in the industry, I've seen it firsthand.

Superchargers don't suck, they BLOW actually. :chuckles: JK.
SC'ers are great for daily driven, I'd think it's a little less maintainance than a turbo.
Perhaps the thing that turns people away from SC is that they are weak, by comparison, in power gains of a turbo. I have driven/ride in cars (both Honda's and non-Honda's) that were both SC'ed and Turbo'ed... I was alot more impressed with the Turbo applications... but to be honest, wasn't too impressed with the SC'ers.
Given the amount of money a SC kit goes for, many people expect dramatic gains, but are disapointed then go turbo. I've seen this trend happen all too frequently.
