Intake Manifold Crackage!
Hey guys, i was workin on the daily driver 95DX , tightening down the fuel rail due to slight leek from when i put my injectors in.. it was driping so i was tightening until the dripping stoped .. well it just about stoped as my intake manifold cracked! pissed me the hell off, lemme tell ya.. heres a pic.
runner number 4 has a big freakin chunk out of it now where the bolt sticks up that the rail mounts to. I'm gonna try & JB weld it while i hunt down another manifold on ebay.. just figured i'd share my anger..
LESSON: Dont tighten anything while it's hot!

hehe yeah thats what torque settings are for. if you have to crank something down more than whats reccomended it means that theres a problem somewhere else. you probably just needed to replace the rubber ring arround the injector. now you have to replace the whole manifole. I guess you can mark that one up under the lessons learend column heh. Ive got a few items in that column myself so dont feel bad.
oh also. running the engine with a known fuel leak is a really bad idea.
