Default first run with new motor

well i just got my swap in (99 b18b) with random shortram intake and catback world sport 2. had some major problems getting traction which cause horrible 60 foot times.
what you guys think?
average times:
reaction : .9
60 foot : 2.3
1/8 : 10.0
1/4 : 15.44
MPH : 90.22

tires are Potenza re-01. 195/55/15. might have been my clutch/flywheel? exedy stage 2 w/ 12lbs exedy flywheel. had to launch at 2000rpm, anything higher than that and i would just sit there and spin to redline. plus i was running full interrior, with subs and all. not sure if that really makes a difference or not

By launch do you mean just rev it up to 2 and drop the clutch???Or do you acutally feather the clutch

you need to launch at a higher rpm because of the flywheel being lighter, feather it in. also thats not a good time for a hatch, I have a crappy running b18b in a coupe putting down those numbers with full interior and 2.4 60's. Reason why i say this really is because you mention that it has lots of goodies...which leads me to believe that this is not a stock motor.

i tried feathering but just ended up revving too high so i just reved to 2000 and dumped the clutch. when i said "lots of goodies", i meant the brakes/suspension. motors all stock except for intake/exhaust/clutch/flywheel. i was able to beat my buddies 2.5rs by like .2 seconds.

ohh, ok. what clutch/fly setup are you running? if you are running the act hdss setup, then you can pound on that thing and it will love it. Feather it all you want and it still acts like a cold clutch. anyhow, practice makes perfect. you cant expect good 60's by dumping your clutch. good luck lowering your times.

I agree with these guys about feathering out the clutch. Remember, it's not always about trying to get the very best time possible when you're at the track. When you become an expert driver, that's when you go for best possible time. Use the time you spend at the track to try new things and improve your launching/driving skills. The better you get a driving, the better your times will automatically get.

You are likely bogging the engine just revving to 2k. You idle at about 800 so you're not doing a whole lot more than that.

Bring it up to at least 3k and don't SMASH the pedal to the floor. Ease it in as you ease out the clutch. Reaction time is worthless so don't worry about how fast you jump the light. It has no bearing on your final time. You could sit there for 3 whole seconds with a green light and then take off and it will not add 3 seconds to your final time. Take your time, learn, and have fun with it.

srry to get off topic but onebaddx wut motor did u like better ur b16 or ur b18. i have a hatch back and am contemplating the two motors. im either gonna go b18b or b16. gimme some feedback. ty. good luck on im porving ur times man.
