Default Playing CDRW in 2004 Accord In-dash 6-CD Changer?

Hi y'all,

I'm just wondering if it's possible to play CD-RW discs in the 2004 Accord In-dash 6-CD changer. Honda's MP3 cd player doesn't display title/artist information in dash. The built-in cd changer doesn't seem to play CDR with CD-Text either. Is it just me or Honda's factory audio system sucks so much it still uses early 90s' technology? Is it also true that you'll have to give up built-in XM if you want to add an after market mp3 cd player in the "CD holder" place?

I'm about to buy a 2004 Accord EX V6... but man... Its audio sucks!

Let me know what y'all think.

I dunno, but if you think it sucks, try a civic stereo ! My new 04 accord's stereo sounds worlds better than my civic did and has many more features. And as for the features you want, i have a number of friends with newer cars and trucks of various brands, none of which play cd/rw or mp3 or anything but your basic playing of cd's. Honda is no worse than others except maybe beemers or other big $ cars. You seem to want pretty much everything from a car stereo, so the only way to get that as far as i know is buy a very expensive car or get an aftermarket stereo. I personally think the accord system is pretty good considering i was buying a car, not a dedicated stereo.

Am pretty sure you would have to give up your XM if you went with an aftermarket stereo, because every brand of XM receiver like Sony, Pioneer, Alpine, etc. All use different connections adapter to plug in to the deck. Only if you find out which manufacturer built the 04's deck then you might be able to get an aftermarket deck from that manufacturer. The same thing happened to me I have XM (Pioneer deck) on my 00 Accord and I wanted to swap to in-dash dvd player by Sony but I would have had to swap XM receiver to a Sony branded one, which blows, Good luck.

I have the 6cd/tape stock head unit in my 98 EX-V6, it plays cd-r's just fine, AND cd-rw's too! No mp3's, but that's way ahead of the stock radio in the 98-00's that barely plays some brands of cd-r's.

My '04 Accord plays CD-Rs but not CD-RWs. That's no problem for me.
