There are several choices. One is stock. ANother is either the Random Tech or go for the CATCO (from Summit). Any of these will NOT cause a CEL if you install it OBD-II with the O2 sensor after the CAT. It is possible that you will need a new sensor-depending on mileage. If you are within the Honda/Federal warranty requirements for emissions the repair is free.

So long as you get either the Random Tech or CATCO you will get a CARB approved replacement. It is not necessary to use the stock unit-unless you really want to.
What I mean by OBD-II is the computer requires that there be an O2 sensor both before and after the CAT. ALL 97+ Preludes have this from the factory. The laws of most states and the Federal Gov't. require that the emissions system be kept as supplied by the car maker as to design.
You can check with a local muffler shop such as Meineke for the CATCO convertor. They did the one on my race car and it works just fine for the sniffer.

i got my random tech cat from Lightning Motorsports: http://www.lightningmotorsports.com/...technology.htm
got it for $220 shipped.
www.summitracing.com has the Catco converters.
I dont know if things have changed in 2-3 years, but at that time, Catco had no direct replacement cats for the Prelude... weld-in universal only.
