Default 6th gen engine hesitation

the problem: during acceleration at one point or another the engine will start cutting off and on causing major hesitation and jerking.. not subtle either.. i'm talking about literally gassing it and it'll feel like you took your foot completely off the gas then punched it again.

the engine light finally came on and the code threw out 'v-tec solenoid' problem.. but the problem is that we tested it and it's fine... another major problem is that the occurrence is sparatic so i can go to the dealer and try to show them, but it might never happen for that day or that moment.

so has anyone else experienced this problem before? comments? suggestions?

99 Accord 4cyl. 5spd sedan...

it's definately not a tranny issue, and it's not noise. the car literally cuts off power, then kicks in...

think of it as driving and while you're acclerating, popping the clutch in and out.

the factors we're looking at are: ignition problem, vtec problem (but could be related to the last one), one of the several sensors is messed up..

button?

actually, this always happened. it happened from the time i bought the car new. it was just that it would happen once, then it wouldn't happen again for several months. that's why the dealer could never find the problem. it's just now that it's happening a lot more often so it's becoming annoying.

the cap and rotor have been replaced. the spark plugs was changed about 2k miles ago... we dismantled everything and checked for burnt spots, misfires.. it's all fine.
