Default Official: 2014 Honda CR-Z Hybrid gets $20 price increase, starts at $19,995*

Honda is pretty much holding the line on pricing for its CR-Z hybrid hatchback. For the 2014 model year, Honda is increasing the base price by a mere twenty dollars to $19,995, keeping the model's price just under that magic $20,000 figure. For the fully equipped CR-Z EX, Honda was a little more aggressive, raising its base price by $185 to $21,840 (neither price includes the $790 destination charge). The 2014 CR-Z went on sale Tuesday.

As far as mechanics, little has changed. The 2014 CR-Z will still get a 31/38 city/highway fuel-economy split for the manual transmission version (Honda sells the only production manual transmission hybrid in the US) and a 36/39 split for the CVT version. Horsepower output will remain the same as the 2013 version at 130 while torque will top out at 140 pound-feet. We're guessing that one thing Honda hope will change is demand for the car. Through September, CR-Z sales were basically the same as last year, up just 2.5 percent from 2012, at 3,546 units. The short-term trend line isn't as good. September 2013 sales plunged 21 percent from a year earlier to just 264 vehicles.
