Need to Hold Onto the Accord...Here's What I Have In Mind...

I thought I would be getting rid of my 99 Accord EX V6 Coupe for something much bigger in a four door variant, but due to financial strain and a pull-out of assistance from my parents to help fund a new ride, I think I may go balls-out on this car and make her a little more into a show vehicle.

She is a 99 San Marino Red coupe, loaded, with the OEM under body spoiler kit, rear wing, stainless exhaust tips, moonroof visor, foglamps, tint....I have two 15" Rockford subwoofers and an 800 watt Rockford amp in the trunk. Here is what I was thinking of doing to her:

-Dropping her and adding 18" chrome wheels and low profile tires
-Swapping the 20% "bronze"/"chocolate brown"-ish tint on there now for REALLY dark limo, all around
-Putting in HIDs or Xenon headlights AND foglamps
-Getting bright chrome tailpipe extensions for the OEM ones
-Removing all badging, or adding gold emblems all around
-Putting red neon license frames BEHIND my plates, so the neon glows from BEHIND, not AROUND
-Doing something with the taillights---blacking them out? Altezzas?

And I was also considering, if I had the cash, changing the OEM body kit and rear spoiler for something more aggressive---a higher, mid-wing spoiler and perhaps a wild Wings West body kit all around.

My questions are these, playas: Everyone says keep the OEM body kit and rear spoiler because they're already on there, and, everyone seems to think the OEM kit and wing look best on the sixth generation coupes...should I indeed keep the OEM kit and wing if I drop the car and add aftermarket bigger wheels and rubber? Will it look good?

With regard to wheels---are 18's "big enough"? I definitely want chrome, but should I go bigger than an 18? I will be driving in New York, and the potholes are EVERYWHERE and are horrendous; not to mention the snow we get. Are 18's "showy" enough, especially in chrome?

My tint---leave it at 20% (which is pretty light in the sun), or have them re-done with limo all around? I like when you can't see in the vehicle; right now, the 20%-ers are pretty light.

Thanks for any input you can provide!

my advise don't get chrome silver looks great but not chrome not on an accord. and 18's will look nice but if you want bigger you can do 19's or even 20's but if you are so worried about potholes then i wouldn't get the 19's or 20's. also if you are SET on getting chrome then go as big as possible chrome on a honda is gonna get made fun of but more so if they are 18's as opposed to 20's

you are in a "financial strain" yet you wanna dump loads of $$ into turning this car into a wannabe flying saucer? :eh:

Thanks for your thoughts. They shall be taken into consideration based on the potholes we have here.

First of all, what is your definition of "flying saucer"? Because I want to drop chrome rims? Im not talking ghetto----just the rims in chrome, thats all.

Also, when I say "financial strain," I mean this: I have the cash for the few exterior mods I want to do, like the rims, tires, lowering, HIDs, etc. I DO NOT have the situation right now in which I could lay down brand new car payments, so instead, I can drop a few grand into making this car more "livable" from day to day now that its a 99 model.

uummmm.....ok....well, if you don't want to get ripped on all the time, first off, don't put ANYTHING chrome on your car. way too bling bling. Don't get foglamps unless they're made by a good company like PIAA, or the OEM fogs that will fit your bumper. Don't even think about putting one of those glowing lisence plate frames on. It really doesn't matter if it's behind the plate or not, it'll still be uber :ghey: and......leave your tails stock, don't get altezzas. they're definately the cheapest, most played out thing you can do to your car. oh, and the gold badging would be horible, too. If you want some tips on mods that WON'T get you constantly ripped on, I'd say get some 18's in anything but chrome (gunmetal, silver, bronze, etc...) and lower it w/ good components such as Eibach, KYB, Tein. and DON'T put chrome exhaust TIPS on. at the very least, replace the whole muffler, if not the whole exhaust system. otherwise, leave it stock. Sorry to say it, but everything you were planning to do to your car is RICE!!

Thanks for the input k.a.y.,

With regard to your foglight comments, I already have the OEM fogs that were an option for the sixth gen Accords; they are on there. I was thinking of switching up to HID heads and fogs. What do you think of that?

Okay, I will leave the tails stock. Now, with the rims, definitely stay 18s? Dont do 19s?

I know it pains you to hear this, but if I swap my OEM 16" alloys I have on there now I am definitely going chrome; it's just what I want. But everything else you have said has been taken into consideration.

Hey DJ. Just keep the ride simple and clean. You don't have to do the neons and all the novelty stuff to make heads turn. You might have already seen this pic before, but it's and example of a clean accord. Not much done to the exterior, but it still looks good.

Thanks 4 Door,

This Accord you attached is MY ACCORD EXACTLY, except in red, with no drop, and no TL/CL 17's; I have the EX V6's 16's....just a kinda "stock hooked up" Accord...is this look merely enough?
