Default little help with touching up

well thanks to an idiot who hit my bumper with their license plate, i lost a little bit of black paint. i had some touchup paint that my body shop guy gave me, and its real thin. i put on like 3 coats. i slipped and got some on the non scratched part of the body. i tried to spread it out, but i can still tell theres a little left. its no big deal, but is there a way to remove the excess layer of paint from the area around the scratch?
thanks

mike

Break out some light rubbing compound to get the excess off, but you'll prob take some off the scratch. Just refill after the compound.

wet sand with real fine grit like 800 or 1000 and then compound or wax

light rubbing compound = microfinishing compound. a local napa prolly carries it. anyway, that, on a rag should do it. if not, you can try using heavy duty compound, followed up by microfinishing. that would get it too, juss be easy on the HDC cuz it's pretty coarse
